Mammoth Mountain 2009!

Ever had one of those trips that was so tiring to prepare for that you had almost nothing left in the tank when you arrived? The good news: Compared to last year's brutal drive up (and subsequent weather all week) this one was a dream, warm and sunny. Also we arrived in time to see Pittsburgh barely squeak out a sloppy win over Arizona (hi Jim) so I hope Nancy managed to get that plastic bag off your head in the last 30 seconds or so. Anyway, the bars here were in full Super Bowl mode. We did Whiskey Creek 'cause Hennessy's closed down (sign of the times) and speaking of closed: My favorite Starbucks in the Village got the ax. Yikes! You'd think they were expensive or something...

My family arrived first this year and we expect to see all the usual crew tomorrow. No flu, no broken bones this year, so everyone will be present and accounted for after noon tomorrow. Mountain temperatures in the day hours have been Spring-like and we expect sunny weather until Thursday or later. Can't wait to see Rob, Wayne, Robert, Melody, Sydney and Savanna. Too tired for much more writing tonight, gotta go get cameras and ski gear ready. Of course, the outdoor pool / hot tubs were first up after dinner tonight so one of tonight's pictures is Natalie and Nicholas enjoying one of their favorite apres ski/board activities. The other is a grab shot at Coso Junction, on the road to Mammoth. Nicholas attempted to elicit a promise from me that it would be the only picture of the entire trip. Yeah right...
